How to Use the Grade Calculator
Add each assessment (assignment, test, project, exam) as a row. Enter the score as a percentage and the weight (how much it counts towards your final mark). Weights don't need to add up to exactly 100%, but ideally they should.
The calculator shows your weighted average and the corresponding SA symbol from Not Achieved (1) to Outstanding (7). Use the Extended Calculator to find what score you need on your final exam to reach a target grade.

Matric Pass Requirements (NSC 2026)
To pass matric (NSC), a learner must achieve:
- At least 40% (Symbol 3) in the Home Language
- At least 30% (Symbol 2) in any four designated subjects (including two official languages)
- For a Bachelor Pass: at least 50% in four designated subjects; at least 50% in one official language; NSC not endorsed for mathematics literacy
- For a Diploma Pass: at least 40% in four designated subjects plus 30% in two others
Life Orientation is not counted in APS score calculations but is required for NSC.
